Spring Cleaning, It's a Must

I sat in the chair on the other side of the desk, across from a friend and mentor. She is a place I can go when I am losing track of where I am and where I am going. Of course I always go to the Lord and His Word first, but there are just times I need to get perspective from the Lord with confirmation from other people that I can trust! My hubby is great at letting me talk it out, but sometimes a different perspective is a good thing!

On this day during this conversation, God showed up and revealed to me wounds that I thought were healed and I had let go. I had wondered why I was having an issue with this hurt rearing its ugly head from time to time… still.

I hate dust, but I love sunshine! And you know what… there will always be dust in the house unless you live in a vacuum. And none of us live in a plastic bubble! On the other hand… there will not always be sunshine. On those blessed sunshiny days, the morning sunshine streams in my dining room windows. But… then the dust is revealed on the furniture and floating in the beams of light through the air!

I guess that is kind of like life in a way. I will always have “dust” in my life. You can just let the “dust” lie… you won’t notice it so much as long as you don’t disturb it or move anything around. Don’t mess up the “dust” or then you will have to do something about it. All looks good on the surface.

Then comes the Son… with the Holy Spirit shining light on those dusty areas of my life! Will I be open to see my brokenness? Am I ready to confess and receive forgiveness? Do I have it in me to declare what truth God shows me in my heart?

As we prayed together that day in my friend’s office, I was asked to speak out what good things God has put in me. Why is it so easy for me to speak encouraging words to others, but I have such a difficult time speaking out loud what I know God says about me???

I find great encouragement from Psalms 139…

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. (v. 14)

It is about the Creator’s workmanship made flesh in my body and yours too!

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. (v. 16)

Father God has written my story before I even walked on this earth! He knows every page in your book!

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You. (v. 17-18)

I am on His heart and mind at all times! How much more could we need in us to be who He has called us to be!

Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; (v. 23)

He knows my heart… my motives… my worries… my desires. Will I be willing to see what He has to show me about the path He is taking me on??? Will you?

When it's all said and done… here is what I know for sure:

He who has begun a good work in [me] will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)

In His Grace, Carin

Hi Carin,

I'm visiting today from Holley's link-up and I had to see what you wrote about dust since I am inveterate cleaner! :) You're right though about not always having sunshine or perfect circumstances to rely on through life's challenges, so we have to keep God's truth uppermost in our minds to rest our thoughts on him. Enjoyed my visit here today!
