Most humans are very predictable!
Do you believe that to be a true statement? I can see the reason for the predictability of us flawed humans as one thing… we are FLAWED! We wouldn’t be very human-like if we weren’t that way!
But I want to talk about a little about a human that had no flaws! “No FLAWS!?” you say. Yeppers, NO FLAWS!
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John… from the books of the Bible not from a Biblical boy-band!!! I love to read and soak up all the accounts in these books. They share the foundation of Christianity as we know it, and the ministry of Christ. Out of all the miracles Jesus did… each told from a couple points of view.
I want to share a couple thoughts on Mark 6… Jesus and His band of merry men, a/k/a disciples, had just fed over 5,000 men, plus their families, with a few fish and five loaves of bread… and still had leftovers! Jesus wanted time alone to pray, so He sent His disciples off on the boat to the next city. It got really windy and the disciples were having a hard time rowing against the wind.
You know how it can be when something comes up against you… we cannot fight against it in our own strength! The fear of the unknown can overshadow our faith!
So… Jesus was watching how this whole thing was unfolding with His guys… they were worried and in turmoil over the strong winds against them. Of course, what did Jesus do? He went for a walk on the water... what else! But when the disciples saw this figure on the water they thought it was a ghost! They had fear of the unknown!
But Jesus calmed their fears with these words, “Take courage! Don’t be afraid! It is I!” (Mark 6:50) In other words… Come on! You know Me!
Come on disciples… you just saw Jesus perform an incredible miracle and yet your fear wipes that from your memory??? But aren’t we the same way so many times? I know I am! I am predictably flawed!
Ok, so I said all that to share this video of my hubby’s story. We had a series called Storytellers at the church we attend, so this was filmed back in November. We are nothing special in comparison to any other humans… we are predictably flawed and we have fears, but we do have a great and faithful God! So here is His-story told through my hubby’s words:

Not all things will work out the way we hope they will, but in the good times and the tough times, we can always trust that it will all work out for our good and God’s glory!
God gives His love extravagantly so we can give our lives to Him extravagantly!
In His Grace,
Carin
